BIKE FIT

A BMX race bike should let the rider move naturally, control the bike confidently, and maintain a strong position through gates, straights, and turns. Size names vary between manufacturers, so measurements and an in-person fit matter more than the category name alone.

01

Record the rider first

Start with current height, inseam, shoulder width, arm reach, shoe size, and age. Young riders grow quickly, so date every measurement and review fit during the season.

02

Evaluate the complete position

Look at standing balance, reach to the bars, knee and handlebar clearance, ability to shift weight, and control while pumping and cornering. Do not choose an oversized bike only because a rider may grow into it.

03

Use size charts as a starting point

Micro Mini, Mini, Junior, Expert, Pro, and Cruiser labels are not perfectly standardized. Compare the actual top-tube, chainstay, head-angle, and wheel measurements supplied by the manufacturer.

04

Ask for a track-side fit check

A coach or experienced BMX race-bike fitter can observe the rider under real movement. Recheck after a growth spurt, major component change, or recurring discomfort.
